For graduate students only. This is Germany’s oldest university, founded in 1386. It has an enrollment of 25, 000 students distributed among 12 departments, of which more than 5, 000 are foreign students from more than 130 countries.

Winter semester: October 1st to March 31st (classes go from mid-October to mid-February)
Admission application deadline: June 15th.

Summer semester: April 1st to September 30th (classes go from mid-April to the end of July).
Admission application deadline: December 15th.

The application file must contain the following documents:

  1. Nomination letter from El Colegio de México
  2. Application form
  3. Official grade transcript

Language requirement: classes and tests are in German, so interested students must have a solid knowledge of this language. The university offers introductory German courses before the semester starts, as well as housing options for exchange students.

Medical insurance: exchange students must have medical insurance. We recommend getting a German insurance to prevent problems. The one offered by the State, for instance, costs 340 euros per semester and includes visits to the doctor, dentist, medications, hospital treatment, etc.
